Meet Kelly Hayes.  Since getting her passport, Kelly has traveled to 16 countries on 3 continents and doesn't plan on stopping there.  While volunteering with Venture with Impact, she will be teaching English workshops in the local community.  As a special part of her journey, she will be accompanied by her 21 month old daughter.

What motivated you to sign up for Venture with Impact?

"Where do I start? Growing up, I lived in Section 8 housing on the outskirts of Washington, DC. My idea of going out of town was traveling to my grandmother’s house 45 minutes away. I saw many friends and family become victims to the cycle of poverty and I knew that my life was more than just Silver Spring, MD. After my brother was murdered, I knew that my purpose in life was rooted in something selfless. So, upon graduating college, I joined Teach for America, packed my whole life up, and moved to Las Vegas to be a 3rd grade teacher. Many people called me brave for moving across the country without a dime to my name nor family in my new home town, but I was so purpose-driven that I didn’t even think about cowering out of this opportunity. I see Venture with Impact as an extension of my purpose."

Have you done much international travel prior to VWI?

"Since getting my passport at the age of 25, I have been to 16 countries on 3 continents. My goal is to visit 20% of the world. Since there about 200 countries in the world, I have my work cut out for me."

What are you most excited about most for your volunteer experience with VWI?

"21 months ago, my fiancée and I welcomed an amazing, beautiful, intelligent baby girl into the world. I am most excited about her embarking on this adventure with me. She will learn the value of giving back and being selfless while simultaneously sharpening her Spanish skills."

What's your favorite 80/90s TV show?
